Mission Trip 2013, Acorns in the Big Apple

Well, we made it to the Big Apple! Midway airport was a zoo this morning but we all got through with out any problem. When we head on our Mission Trips,  we run into challenges, but through the efforts of community we can overcome whatever's thrown at us.

Landed in LaGuardia and got our bags and some lunch and took a big white bus to Hostelling International, the world's largest Youth Hostel!  It was a beautiful day in Manhattan so we walked the three blocks to the northwest corner of Central Park and walked the grounds and played some frisbee.

After a New York style pizza dinner our group spent time reflecting on the week ahead.  We talked about the qualities of those we admire and why those qualities are ones to strive for. We know that this is just type of week to pay attention to the way in which we approach our world.  Then we looked outward at those we are with and acknowledged that we are stronger as a community.   We built a "human machine" to reinforce the idea.

After some free time in the amazingly appointed Hostel - ping pong, outdoor garden (with high walls), media room and cafe - it was off to bed for our weary travelers.

Up and at 'em and on the subway by 7 am Monday morning!
